PRODUCT CATALOGUE RENDERS

Worksport needed to ramp up online sales of truck bed covers. They had literally hundreds of product variations. High quality images were needed to showcase all these products.

Approximately 300 high resolution renders were created to showcase the cover models with each of the pickup trucks. Customers need an enjoyable shoping experience, being able to view the exact version of the cover, open and closed on their own truck model. Worksport even decided to have detailed close-up shots of latches, buckles and details to provide a closer look.

Process

Scripting: Defining the purpose of the images, the file formats, and collecting high quality 3D models of trucks and covers. Some assets like the cover were already created in previous projects.

Dress up: Every model is textured in detail. Vehicle colours were selected based on real truck finishes.

Showtime: A custom studio is set up with tasteful lighting to showcase the forms and emphasize depth. A single setup can be reused for a wide range of models.

Capture: Post processing was kept to a minimum due to the massive number of images. This allowed churning out image after image.

Digital photography studio. Extremely customizable and repeatable. Add new products any time with consistent camera angles, lighting and colours.

Studio build

A custom studio was set up with carefully placed lights to make each object shine in their best light. The covers need to look delicious. Cameras are positioned and tweaked based on real physical cameras. Once a stage is set, rendering in large batches of images is a breeze.

5 models of covers on every truck here. Covers open, half-open, and closed. That’s over 250 images of the full covers. That’s not counting the close-up shots.

How did we ensure timely delivery and quality? The trick is in building a soild foundation with the studio, lighting and textures. Time spent in details upfront has significant impact on the whole project.

File formats, resolutions and functionality are custom made for Worksport’s needs through the entire process. A transparent background was required here. Shadows were optimized to stay within the frame without bleeding through the edges.

A neutral colour (white and black) was selected to show features up close.

Renders were needed quickly! Weeks of time were shaved off and hunderds of renders reduced with one simple trick:

The close-up images were created on a neutral white-coloured truck, so that they could be used on all product pages regardless of the truck model or body colour.

Worksport was able to launch with a bang. The entire catalog of products and truck variations went online for customers to easily browse through.

That’s approximately 300 product versions and close-ups!
